Following the flooding and storms of last winter, this workshop is aimed at helping organisations that are impacted by extreme weather or involved in responding to it, including businesses, charities and membership bodies.

The session will provide an accessible overview of what the science says about the occurrence and frequency of extreme weather, as well as some scientifically-robust but simple messages that can be used to answer basic questions that relate to your operations, such as “will it happen again?” and “is it going to get worse in the future?”.

The session will be webcast:
10.30am – 12 noon, Thursday 15^th January

It will include:

• An accessible briefing on the science of extreme weather events, their frequency and severity, led by Professor Brian Golding, Met Office
• A set of simple and scientifically-robust messages that your organisation can use, discussion led by Richard Black, director of the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit and former BBC correspondent
• An opportunity to submit questions during the session – the panel will answer as many as possible
• An opportunity to hear how other organisations communicate around extreme weather
