Local businesses receive support from Growing Corby business growth programme

Fifteen Corby based businesses have already received much needed support from the newly launched Growing Corby initiative, a programme committed to boosting jobs in Corby and encouraging new companies to move to the town.

A wide range of companies, including marketing agencies, a gym and a computer repair business, have sought and accessed support since Growing Corby launched earlier this month.

Nine of the 15 businesses have each been awarded a £2,500 Growing Corby growth grant and this first round of grants has already resulted in the creation of one new job, with further jobs expected to be created over the coming months.

Five other companies, have also each received 12 hours of free market research.

An additional company is set to benefit later this month from a three month paid intern, which Growing Corby has arranged to support the business to grow.

Nick Bolton, Founder of Electric Corby, the organisation managing the Growing Corby programme, said: “We are delighted to have been able to help and support so many companies and look forward to providing support to hundreds more over the coming months. Corby is increasingly regarded as a first choice location for business and Growing Corby will continue to play an active part at the very heart of this.”

The Growing Corby Business Growth Programme, made possible thanks to a £1.1million project supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), has been set up to help local businesses and social enterprise, as well as companies seeking to move to Corby, to grow and thrive.

Through a unique programme of grants, internships, coaching, expert advice and targeted market research, Growing Corby aims to create over 140 new jobs in Corby, help over 90 individuals to launch a new business, support more than 200 local businesses to improve their performance and attract or create 60 new businesses to Corby by the end of 2015.
